Tulips by Sheri Jones

Tulips by Sheri Jones
8 x 10
I attempted to create a painting similar to this a year ago. The painting didn't work out and should have been a wiper. I was working from a set up in the studio and took some photos for future reference. The light was appealing in the photo I thought I would give it another try.  I like this one much better. This painting is available for purchase through

Zippo by Sheri Jones

Zippo by Sheri Jones
10 x 10 oil on canvas
I created this as part of the challenge Michael Naples posted on Daily Paint Works this week. The instructions were to paint this lighter using burnt siena, ultra marine blue and white. I was surprised you can get such a wide range of values using such a limited palette. It was a fun challenge. I painted this with a palette knife.  Sold

River Bank by Sheri Jones

Riverbank by Sheri Jones
8 x 10 oil on canvas
This was inspired by a photo I took in the Willow City Loop area. This is in the Texas Hill Country and a location that is well known for it's wildflowers in the Spring time.  I enjoy the flowers, but the low river bank is a lure for me. I am attracted to the path the water makes and this draws me in.  I created this with a palette knife and lots of paint. This painting is available for purchase. $100.00

Cluster of Cedars by Sheri Jones

Cluster of Cedars by Sheri Jones
10 x 8 oil on canvas
This was created plein air from a location outside Acton Nature Center, Acton, Texas. My painting buddy, Jill Randall went to paint a sunset, but arrived early enough to paint one before. I was attracted to the bright light and deep shadows the late day sun did to the Cedar trees.
Finding a place to park the car and stand with a good view is a challenge. We found an old abandoned restaurant on top of the hill that was perfect for us. This painting is available for purchase.$100.00

End of Cripple Creek Road

End of Cripple Creek Road
8 x 10 oil on canvas
My friend, Jill Randall helped me take my paintings to town for my upcoming show. We both had the afternoon free and quickly decided we should go paint. She likes to paint outside as much as I do.   We found this spot a short drive from home. We saw inspiration all around us and plan to return soon.

View from Cripple Creek Road by Sheri Jones

View from Cripple Creek Road by Sheri Jones
9 x 12 oil on Raymar canvas panel
I painted this today plein air. The weather was windy but warm.  My friend Jill and I took off looking for inspiration and we didn't go far.  We have painted in this area outside Granbury many times, but never went down this road.   We were thrilled to find this location. It was a quite country road with no traffic and so peaceful.  I'll bet we return here soon.
This painting is available for purchase $120.00

China Cups by Sheri Jones

China Cups by Sheri Jones
10 x 8 oil on Raymar canvas
This was painted in my friend, Linda Reedy's new studio. It's close to where I work and I was fortunate to dash over and join her and Doug Clark.  She has a great new space with all her still life models organized by color. I picked all cool colors and found the clementine orange for a little pop. This painting is available for purchase. $100.00

Two Poppies by Sheri Jones

Two Poppies by Sheri Jones
8 x 10 oil on canvas
I took a photo of this poppy garden in downtown Fort Worth. Someone planted a wildflower garden on an empty lot. They turned an unsightly lot into a beautiful little haven. My friend Kathy and I walked through it taking photos. Painting this was a great reminder of our little field trip.
This painting is available for purchase. $100.00

Ten Minute Study-Pepper by Sheri Jones

Ten Minute Study-Pepper by Sheri Jones
8 x 16 oil on Raymar panel.
This was inspired by a challenge posted on Daily Paint Works. This week's challenge was posted by Carol Marine. The rules were to divide your canvas into squares and do 10 minute studies. Set a timer and stick to 10 minutes. This is a great exercise and forces you to make quick decisions. You learn to make efficient strokes. Next time I will make sure and have plenty of paint mixed up. I can see doing more of these they were such fun. This painting is available for purchase. $150.00

Indian Paint Brush by Sheri Jones

Indian Paint Brush by Sheri Jones
10 x 8 oil on canvas.
I was inspired to paint this after going through my photos from the Texas Hill Country. We travelled there during their peak last Spring and were rewarded with lots of photos. I wanted to paint something that excited me. The vibrating orange against the bright blue was what I was looking for. This photo reminded me of all I have to look forward to with Spring approaching.
This was painted with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint. This painting is available for purchase through Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas, Texas

Blue Bird by Sheri Jones

Blue Bird by Sheri Jones
8 x 10 oil on Raymar Canvas panel
This is a painting I did during our paint out with the Outdoor Painter's Society. We painted inside in the morning. There were three stilll lifes set up and one model to paint from. It was a good choice to be in with temperatures in the 40's outside. The temperatures rose to 80 before the day was out. It's always great to paint with other artist and see their approach to the same subject. This painting is available for purchase. $100.00
