This was a quick still life I painted in my studio.
The teapot is such a large part of this set up that I was originally going for a grayed down look, but I need color. I placed the scarf around the teapot and introduced the cherries. Finally, I liked the look and balance of color.
The flowers and fruit are from my trip to Central market where I spent too much money. But who can pass up special treats you can only find there? I couldn't resist them or the fresh flowers. I loved pairing the bright orange flowers with the royal blue vase. 
These red irises were grown in my Mother in law's yard. She had a wide variety of hybrid irises and took great joy and pride in her garden. I took tons of photos of them and brought bulbs home for my own garden. The red ones never survived in my yard, but they live on now in my painting. 
This is my friend Terry's bathroom. I know she loves a good Pam Ingall's painting and think she fashioned her bathroom after one. I loved it and couldn't wait to paint it. I challenged her to do the same. 
This is from the ice cream shop on the Historical Granbury Square. I participated in a paint out there in October and was scouting places to paint. We went in before the crowds and snapped some photos. I was inspired to paint it to get in a "Pam Ingalls" frame of mind. I am taking her workshop in Fredricksburg next month. 
I shopped at Central Market recently and found myself at the dessert counter. I bought and I shot pictures of all their beautiful desserts. 
This was painted from a set up in my studio. I get excited arranging items for a painting. I am looking for a nice flow of color, shape and design. I had fun with this painting. Available - $150.00
I enlarged this from a small field study. I used a larger pallet knife and lots of paint. It seemed to paint itself and was almost as much fun as the field study. 
This was my first painting of the new year. Happy 2010.
