I created this during the Paint Historic Waxahachie art event this week. I am pleased to say it won a 3rd place ribbon.
 It was in the garden of on of the homes in the Gingerbread tour. She is a master gardener and has set up still lives through the garden.  It was a delight to paint there.

I created this on the first day of  Paint Historic Waxachacie. This goes on during their Gingerbread Tour of homes. This garden is in the back yard of one of the homes on the tour. She is a master gardener and invited artist to come and paint.  It was a wonderful opportunity in an incredible garden. The festival was created to promote the conservation and restoration of Tandy Hills. This natural area is an  example of the native prairie that was indigenous to most of Fort Worth.  The festival has great food, music, vendors and plein air artist. It is a great outdoor event.

I loved the shadows the trees were casting on this house in my photo. I went back recently to see if the flowers would be blooming. I was not disappointed. The home owner was out working in the lawn when I walked up. He quickly called his wife out to give me a tour of her garden. She also gave me a tour of her art collection. The highlight was seeing my friends art.  Jill Randall painted  a portrait of this house and did a fabulous job.

It was my turn to gallery set at Shanley House during the Lake Granbury Art Association Spring Festival of Art show. I brought the roses from my garden, set up this still life and got to work. I used the brush and thinned down paint to wash the background  in. I drew the roses in with a brush and added thick paint with a palette knife developing the roses.
