I continue on my quest to improve my portraits and set a goal to paint the kids in my family. This is my great niece, Sadie. When she visits we keep her on the move playing.  We were taking a break and she was resting on the table. I snapped a picture and knew I wanted to paint it.  She was having a two thumbs up day.

Meranda at Four

Thank you to a new collector and Dutch Art Gallery for sending this one off to a new home.  This was a gift for a long lost loved one.  They connected and she brought gifts of geraniums. This painting will remind them of that first meeting. 

I love it when a painting connects to someone in a meaningful way. They sent this photo to share.

Poppies Field Forever

For a lover of color, its was a thrill to see the colorful landscape filled with poppies. This is inspired from the wildflower seed farm in Fredericksburg, Texas.  The wild flowers were popping with color in the morning sun.

Walter Eating Watermelon

The new year brought on a self made challenge to paint the children in my family.  I have been saving reference photos for a while and are finally ready to use them. It is hard to get a good photo of this kiddo because he is always on the move. Catching him being idle eating the watermelon was a golden opportunity.
