Texas Sunrise by Sheri Jones

I used a s small study to create Texas Sunrise. The original was inspired from the Granbury area.  I love to take my small studies and use them as a departure for my large landscape paintings. I may move a tree or use a different color scheme to get the results I want.  The study is a great way to work out color or  design theory before approaching a large canvas. I meet my friends Joyce Thomas and Jill Randall on a perfect fall day. The temperatures were in the low sixties with no wind. We painted along the Brazos River in Pecan Plantation in Granbury. We were greeted with overcast, gray skies.  It made the warm grasses popped with color.  We were all very grateful for a good painting day. This is available for purchase.

I painted at Pecan Valley golf course a few weeks ago and the trees were at their peak. I loved the bright colors of these crypt myrtle trees and the golden grass. This was a fun painting to create using the palette knife. This is available for purchase. $550.

This was inspired from my trip to Italy in September. It was raining in Siena when we approached the Piazza del Campo. The  brightly colored umbrellas really popped against the gray skies and buildings.  I loved the feel of this city with the ancient buildings and it's history.

This is the piazza where the Palio di Siena takes place. This horse race runs around the Piazza del Campo twice each year. The event is attend by large crowds and is widely televised.
  Siena is also the home of the Siena Cathedral (Duomo). It begun in the 12th century and is a great example of Italian Romanesque-Gothic architecture. Touring this cathedral was one of the highlights of our trip.

Color Journey by Sheri Jones

My friend, Jill Randall and I took off this morning in search of good painting spot. We found this sweet spot not far from our neighborhood.  This is part of Lake Granbury and had lots of colorful grasses and trees. The temperature was 64 degrees early in the day and warmed to 80 degrees.  It was a beautiful day to be outside. I painted this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.
