Tuscan Villa by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Tuscan Villa

11x14 oil on canvas

I think I could get used to living in a Villa like this. I love the tree lined drives that lead to this home and land.  This is outside of Pienza, Italy and very typical of the landscape in Tuscany.

Tuscan Countryside by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Tuscan Countryside

11x14 oil on canvas

I went to Italy last year to paint and see the beautiful countryside. The climate was perfect and views incredible.  This was not far from our villa in Pienza.  I took  a lot of drive by shots and found many with potential for painting.  This is one of them.

Tuscan Dreaming by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Tuscan Dreaming

11 x 14 oil on canvas

I travelled to Italy last year and loved every minute of it. This is from a photo I took while cruising through the back roads of Tuscany.  These lovely farmhouses are doted along the countryside like little stil-lifes. I saw a painting at every turn.

Blue Lake Benbrook by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Blue Lake Benbrook

I took a small detour on my way to work one day and found this peaceful spot. I have returned here often and find inspiration every time.  It is constantly changing with the moving light and seasons. I loved all the contrasting colors I found on this fall morning.

Iris Garden Shadows by Artist of Texas Sheri Jones

Iris Garden Shadows

9x12 oil on canvas

This is from a beautiful garden I visited in Granbury. This house is across the street from our art center and I couldn't resist visiting the homeowners. I was grateful with a complete tour of their home and garden. It's  a work in process and a beautiful creation. I especially loved the blooming irises.

A Summer Bloomer by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

A Summer Bloomer

14x18 oil on canvas

These summer bloomers are cashmere bouquet flowers. They are a hardy, Texas tolerant plant. They can be invasive, but that is their worst trait. They are easy to grow and a regular in my garden. Some refer to them as rose glory bower, mexicali rose or mexican hydrangea.

Last Light by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Last Light

Diptych collage

30 x 24 x2 gallery wrapped canvas acrylic-mixed media

I created this collage with acrylic paints and lots of texture. I glued textured paper along the edges to indicate a window. I wanted your eye to go from the abstract sun to the glow of the river. The fancy tree was and added delight. I used a palette knife for even more texture. I glazed color on top of color creating depth.

This painting hangs in the lobby of the hospice program I work at. I hope staff and visitors can find a peaceful respite while viewing.
