Back Road Color by Sheri Jones

12x9 oil on canvas

I am still on a quest to paint the ultimate fall foliage picture.  Cooler temperatures and the change of color is always a joy to experience. This was inspired from a back road in the Pagosa Springs area.  I met fellow artist there during a paint out with the Outdoor Painters Society.

Sights of Autumn by Sheri Jones

9x12 oil on canvas

I am still reliving my trip to Colorado during the fall foliage display. We drove around looking for a place to pull over to paint. The back roads around Pagosa Springs offered many options and provided the inspiration for this.

Fall Fever by Sheri Jones

9x12 oil on canvas

With cooler temperatures here, I was inspired to paint the warm colors of fall.   I've used my photos and field studies from past painting trips to fuel this new series. I painted this with a palette knife creating lots of texture. This is from a country road in Pagosa Springs and was bursting with the warms colors I yearned for.

Garden Entrance

20x16 oil on canvas

My garden continues to inspire new paintings.  It is still blooming brilliant flowers with color bursting out. Being in the quiet of the garden is a happy place.  I created a small study before attempting this larger version. It really helps with color and design.  Where flowers bloom so do hope and happiness.

Garden Light

12x9 oi on canvas panel

This was painted at Chandor Gardens a few years ago.  I brought it out and made a few adjustments recently.  Over time it becomes obvious where changes need to be made to improve it.  Working on this reminded me of the pleasure I get when visiting a blooming garden.

Sold

This delightful painting was inspired from the banks of the Brazos River. Spending time in nature, painting, gathering ideas and observing are part of the process. I came home filled with ideas and created this.

It recently sold to a new collector and she said it was a piece that spoke to her and she had to have it.  Her wonderful husband agreed it would make a great birthday present.  This is why I paint, to share, inspire and pass on the passion of a beautiful view. Thank you Laurie!

Sky Blue Lake House

14x11 oil on canvas

This house is in view from my boat dock on Lake Granbury. I painted it plein air with fellow artist and friends. I invited a few artist over to paint and we were all drawn to the water. The winds were calm enough to create nice reflections in the water. It was a beautiful morning ending with a nice meal lunch on the patio. Thanks to my husband, BJ.
