These summer bloomers are cashmere bouquet flowers. They are a hardy, Texas tolerant plant. They can be invasive, but that is their worst trait. They are easy to grow and a regular in my garden. Some refer to them as rose glory bower, mexicali rose or mexican hydrangea.

I created this collage with acrylic paints and lots of texture. I glued textured paper along the edges to indicate a window. I wanted your eye to go from the abstract sun to the glow of the river. The fancy tree was and added delight. I used a palette knife for even more texture. I glazed color on top of color creating depth.

This painting hangs in the lobby of the hospice program I work at. I hope staff and visitors can find a peaceful respite while viewing.

I have never grown peonies, but alway admired them.  I found these cut flowers at the market and could resist buying them.  I love the challenge of painting flowers . You have to work fast before they fade. I created this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

Seeing a field of bright red poppies requires a stop, especially at sunrise.  This  is on a busy highway and hard to get to. My sweet husband did a turn around and parked in a driveway so I could get out and take some photos.   I painted it with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

I painted this during the Paint Historic Waxahachie last week. These sunflower plants were outside a carpet business. We asked permission to paint in their front yard and got to work. It turned out the owner of this business is also a "painter friendly" master gardner. His house is on Main street and he welcomes artist every year to paint in his incredibly peace garden.

I created this during the Paint Historic Waxahachie this week. I worked at the gardens at one of the homes on the Gingerbread Tour of homes. They had all types of collectables, including an old packard, an antique motorized bike, this blue tractor and much more. This was painted in Waxahachie during Paint Historic Waxahachie this week. 

My friend, and artist George de Chiara introduced me to this field of sunflowers. Check out his work, he does an awesome job.  It was a wonderful place to spend the afternoon. The clouds were thick and parting occasionally letting the sun peak through at times. The light was inconsistent, making it a challenge. This painting sold.
