Cottonwood Color, Contemporary Plein Air Painting by Sheri Jones

Cottonwood Color

9x12

I painted this quick study to explore simple shapes and strong color. It was painted at Rail Yard Park in Santa Fe during the Outdoor Painter's Society  paint out. I loved the beautiful mountains in the distance and the warm colors of the Cottonwood Trees. This was painted with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint. It is available for purchase. $250.00

I  drove by this view in Abiqui and slammed on my breaks to stop.  We set up quickly and painted the fading light. It was in the late afternoon and the color was glowing. This was one of my favorite spots while visiting the Santa Fe area. This is available for purchase. $250.00
