Along the Brazos River, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Along the Brazos River

8x10 oil on canvas

Painting on location in Granbury on the Brazos River.  This is actually in a "neighbor hood" with homes along this beautiful river.  I have friends that live here and love to get outside as much as I do.  I tried to keep my colors cool to reflect the cloudy day.  It was a challenge for me!

A Sky to Inspire, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

A Sky to Inspire

7x14 oil on canvas

The colors danced across the sky from this sunset on Lake Granbury.

The sky inspires me in many ways.  The sky suggest optimism, dreaming, peace and strength. Even during these times of isolation, I find joy in the changing skies.

A Sign of Spring, Contemporary Still Life Painting by Sheri Jones

A Sign of Spring

10x10 oil on canvas

This is a cropped version of an older painting. I saved my favorite parts of a larger painting to create smaller versions. I have spring fever and cleaning house. Some paintings may survive and some won't. What do you do with older paintings?

Behind Every Cloud, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Behind Every Cloud

16x20 oil on canvas

This painting started as a demo for the Waxahachie Art Association. With all this down time I am finding unfinished paintings and working on them.

Remember every cloud has a silver lining. You should not feel hopeless with the recent events.  Difficult times lead to better days.  Use this time to catch up on unfinished projects and enjoy the process.

A Morning Sunny

14x11 oil on canvas

Wow, this was a fun one to paint. This one seemed to paint itself.  This was based on one of my sunrise photos taken on the road to Ft. Worth from Granbury. A lot of the area is undeveloped and pleasing to the soul.

All Lined Up,New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

All Lined Up

12x16 oil on Ampersand Board

We took a drive to find new ideas for a landscape painting.  I found the  line of cedar trees appealing. I love the way  the yellow grasses highlighted the trees and leads you in to the distant views.

Hunting Zone, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Hunting Zone

12x16 oil on canvas

This was inspired from a trip to Rough Creek Lodge. This is an upscale hunting lodge located in Glen Rose. The dirt road lead to a sweet hunting spot that was off limits to us. I know there must be more inspiring views down this road.

I was so grateful for warm sunny weather recently. A few of us from our drawing group took our paints outside. We set up on the banks of Lake Granbury.  The tall golden grasses provide a fun focus.  It was windy, but so great to get outside and paint.

A Day at the Farm

11x 14 oil on wood panel

I painted in Fredericksburg recently and had to stop at the Wild Seed Farm. We bought seeds and wondered around the gardens. We were delighted when we found fields of zinna's, cosmos and sunflowers. The butterflies and humming birds were fluttering everywhere.
