El Tesoro Falls

11x14

I created this from a couple of field studies and a photos from El Tesoro.  El Tesoro is a camp for kids in the Granbury Area. A lovely river runs through it with colorful views.  A group of plein air painters were granted access.  We hung out, painted and enjoyed the solitude of this camp.

This painting was selected to show with the Camp Fire First Texas, "An Artist Christmas-2018

Circle of Color Sky, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Circle of Color Sky

11x14 oil on wood panel

I get so excited when painting a cloudscape I paint the first layer very quickly. I like to build up texture and color one layer at a time. I decided to blend the hard edges of the palette knife work with small circles. This works well when painting on the hard wood service. Check out the texture on this one. It was fun.

Available thru Dutch Art Gallery

Fall Creek Flow, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Fall Creek Flow

11x14 oil on panel

I created this on location in Granbury, Texas. I met my painting buddies, Judy and Linda to paint on the river bed.  It was a peaceful morning with the sounds of the water trickling along. It's always a good thing to get out and paint on location.  To purchase or see more http://www.sherijonesart.com Sheri@sherijonesart.com http://www.sheriart.blogspot.com. Magical Meadow, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Magical Meadow

12x12 oil on canvas

This sunrise painting was inspired from the wild flowers sprinkling the landscape in the early morning light.  It was a joy to witness this great start to the day. I had dreams of painting standing in this beautiful meadow.  Hopefully I will be able to do just that.  It's located outside of the town of Cresson, Texas and off Hwy 377.

Water Lily Garden, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Water Lily Garden

30x24 oil on Canvas

A visit to Clark Gardens in Weatherford, Texas inspired this painting. I painted on location and still have not finished with all the painting ideas from that trip.  It was a hot summer morning and the perfect place to set up my easel. I created a couple while there and use those as color studies. This was painted in the studio using brushes, palette knifes and layers and layers of colorful paint.

Morning Graze

11x14 Oil on Canvas

I created this in the studio from a fuzzy  photo I took while flying down the highway. For safety reasons I should menotion I was a passenger and not driving. The dramatic sky and hint of the cows on the hillside were enough to spark my creative desire.

From Amy's Garden, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

From Amy's Garden

12x9 oil on wood panel

I snagged more of my neighbor, Amy's sunflowers. I set up this still life in the sun. The heat from the sun will melt the flowers, so I worked fast.  Pre-mix paints and a palette knife help with the process.
