Whimsical Fall Sumac, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Whimsical Fall Sumac

11x14 oil on canvas

I love to explore different effects and ways to apply the paint on the canvas. The paint was applied with a palette knife in circle like patterns. Fun colors add to the whimsical effect.   This is available for purchase at Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas,

Evening on the Blanco River, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Evening on the Blanco River

16x12 oil on canvas

I created this after spending time in Wimberly, Texas with my sisters.  It was an October evening and easy stroll to the river. We arrived in time for the golden hour and watched the sun go down. Spending time on the river was a highlight of the trip. This is available for purchase. Please email me for more information.

September Harvest-Hay Bales, New Contemporary Painting by Sheri Jones

September Harvest-Hay Bales

9x12 oil on canvas panel

I noticed fresh hay bales out in fields I drive by and knew the time was right to get outside and paint.  I mentioned to my friend Linda Miller I wanted to paint hay bales and she found us a great location. The weather was cool and we were on an isolated street with hardly any traffic.  We did have to get out of the middle of the road when a tractor drove by.  This is available for purchase. Please email me if you are interested.

Tree Shadows, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Tree Shadows

20x16 oil on canvas

It was all about the shadows and the shapes the trees created with the burning light.  I was on a trip with 4 of my sisters and we stopped at the LBJ National and Historical Park to paint. This was their first plein air lesson and an historical event in our family.  This is available for purchase. Please email me if interested;

Poppy Garden, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Poppy Garden

This was inspired from a plein air adventure with my painting buddies.  We were out scouting new locations to paint and drove past this rural country garden.  We soon met the owner, Anna May and she allowed us to set up and paint here. This is available for purchase.
