This was inspired from my "drive to work series". My timing for gorgeous sunrise and sunsets is often spot on my daily commute. I created a smaller study of this scene before committing to such a large format. It helps me work out design and color issues.  This is available for purchase.

This painting is one that evolved and was slow to show my vision.

The trees started off very dark and didn't shine until they were changed to Aspen trees.  I love all the color that found its way to the canvas.

We drove by this view on the way to William's Creek Reservoir  in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. I made a metal note to return to this gorgeous scene.   I did return the next morning and set up quickly. Soon after it started raining and rained until I couldn't keep things dry. I painted under the back hatch on the car and it worked for a while.  As soon as I shut down and left and arrived back to the cabin, the sun came out!  This painting is available for purchase.
