Peonies by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Peonies

20x16

I have never grown peonies, but alway admired them.  I found these cut flowers at the market and could resist buying them.  I love the challenge of painting flowers . You have to work fast before they fade. I created this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

This is available for purchase. $500.00

Garden Gladiolus by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Garden Gladiolus

14x7 oil on canvas

I painted this in my garden on a sunny afternoon.  The bold, colorful blooms are a nice addition to the landscape.  I started this with a warm toned canvas and then sketched the outline of the flowers in. I used a palette knife adding layers of color. This is available for purchase.

Summer by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Summer

10x8 oil on  canvas

Watermelons and summer time bring back many sweet memories. I painted this from a set up in my back yard. The strong light created great shadows and contrast. I had to work quickly to capture the changing lights.

Poppy Sunrise by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Poppy Sunrise 11x14 oil on canvas

Seeing a field of bright red poppies requires a stop, especially at sunrise.  This  is on a busy highway and hard to get to. My sweet husband did a turn around and parked in a driveway so I could get out and take some photos.   I painted it with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

Smith's Sunflowers by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Smith's Sunflowers

10x8 oil on canvas

I painted this during the Paint Historic Waxahachie last week. These sunflower plants were outside a carpet business. We asked permission to paint in their front yard and got to work. It turned out the owner of this business is also a "painter friendly" master gardner. His house is on Main street and he welcomes artist every year to paint in his incredibly peace garden.

Rosey Light

7x5 oil on Raymar canvas

I picked the roses are from my garden and set this up in a sunny window. I had to work fast keep up with the moving sun.  Painting still life's in the studio is a fun challenge. If I can't paint outside, this is the next best thing.

Blue Tractor by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Blue Tractor

5x7 oil on canvas

I created this during the Paint Historic Waxahachie this week. I worked at the gardens at one of the homes on the Gingerbread Tour of homes. They had all types of collectables, including an old packard, an antique motorized bike, this blue tractor and much more. I liked the dark interior of the garage against the bright light on this antique blue tractor.  This is available for purchase. $100.00

Sunflower Fields Forever by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Sunflower Fields Forever

9x12 oil

This was painted in Waxahachie during Paint Historic Waxahachie this week.

My friend, and artist George de Chiara introduced me to this field of sunflowers. Check out his work, he does an awesome job.  It was a wonderful place to spend the afternoon. The clouds were thick and parting occasionally letting the sun peak through at times. The light was inconsistent, making it a challenge. This painting sold.
