I painted this is the studio after painting plein air one fall morning.  My artist friend, Jill Randall and I took a drive in search of good painting locations and found this one. The only problem was a couple local guard dogs. They ran us down the road, but not before we snapped a few pictures.  I painted this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

This is the 4th place mat I've painted in my truck series for my husband. I found this old faded truck in Cresson, Texas recently and knew I had to paint it. 

I enjoyed combining the realistic view of the truck and abstracting the background. 

A switch to painting with acrylics and a brush was a fun challenge.

This is a place mat I painted for my husband. I have used hand painted place mats for years and wanted something new. I asked my husband what he would like and he quickly answered TRUCKS.  I wanted the background to be nice and loose and filled with color. It was a fun exercise in combing the realistic look of the truck against an abstract background.
