I created this larger studio piece from a small plein air study that I painted back in February. I did exercise my artist license and moved the sun to create this sunset.  I laid the big shapes in with a large paint brush and came back in the a palette knife.  I love the texture and color I can create with the knife.  This painting is available for purchase through Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas, Texas.

I was fortunate to attend a Betty Carr workshop this week. We immersed ourselves in art for three days and had a great time learning from this incredible artist.  I painted this from one of my photos I took while painting a sunrise.  It is such a challenge to be on site so early, but we are usually blessed with a colorful display. This is a re-do of an 8x10 plein air study. It was one created at the old bridge overlooking the Brazos River in  Granbury. They built a new bridge and left the old one up. You can't drive a car on it, but you can still walk on it. We love to go here because it has a great view there is a place to park your car. Two key factors when looking for a place to paint.
