I enlarged this from a small field study. I used a larger pallet knife and lots of paint. It seemed to paint itself and was almost as much fun as the field study. 
This was my first painting of the new year. Happy 2010.
While painting this in the studio this week I was reminded of the sunny hot summer when I photographed this beauty in my garden. With two snow storms in North Texas in the last week I looked forward to the new year and warmer weather.

I painted this from a set up in my studio with a pallet knife. I loaded it up with paint pushing and pulling color around. I want you to see the paint and stroke of the knife. 
I found this colorful bush on my way to paint to the Marina on Lake Granbury. This was the brightest subject I could find on this gray and overcast morning.

I was lucky enough to spend a few days in the Jackson Hole area painting this summer. The Grand Tetons are majestic. I would love to return and explore the area more.
