Cluster of Cedars by Sheri Jones

Cluster of Cedars by Sheri Jones
10 x 8 oil on canvas
This was created plein air from a location outside Acton Nature Center, Acton, Texas. My painting buddy, Jill Randall went to paint a sunset, but arrived early enough to paint one before. I was attracted to the bright light and deep shadows the late day sun did to the Cedar trees.
Finding a place to park the car and stand with a good view is a challenge. We found an old abandoned restaurant on top of the hill that was perfect for us. This painting is available for purchase.$100.00

Peppers by Sheri Jones

Peppers by Sheri Jones
12 x 12 oil on canvas
The was painted in the studio from a set up. My grocery shopping trip is what inspired this painting. I introduced the platter that had a lot of the repeating colors. This was a lot of fun to paint. I documented my process and have posted photos below. Check it out and let me know if you have any question.
This painting is available $150.00

Stacked by Sheri Jones

Stacked by Sheri Jones
11 x 14 oil on canvas
I was inspired to paint still lifes after seeing Beth Prichard do a demo at our local art meeting.
It's so beneficial to see how someone approaches and executes a painting. I always learn something and its so inspiring. I bought the fruit to eat, but they made nice models for me. I brought the stacked bowls in for their bright rich colors. This painting is available for purchase $150.00

Lake Side Chevy by Sheri Jones

Lake Side Chevy by Sheri Jones
12x16 oil on canvas
This old chevy's last stop was out at Lake Granbury. It's final resting spot is right on the water's edge and caught my eye while out on a boat ride. If I can't paint while out on the lake I am looking for something to paint. This painting is available for purchase.

Road Side Still Life by Sheri Jones

Road Side Still Life by Sheri Jones
11 x 14 oil on canvas
This old truck is on it's last leg and setting outside a market in the panhandle of Texas. We saw it on summer vacation and I knew I had to stop on the way back for reference photos. I loved all the rust showing thru the vibrant colors of yellow and green.
This painting will be in my solo show at Tarleton's Langdon Center in Granbury in February 2011.
Available for purchase.

Jwood's Ratrod by Sheri Jones

JWoods Ratrod by Sheri Jones
11 x 12 oil on Raymar canvas panel
This was created from a photo I took of my nephew's 28 Ford Ratrod. My husband went out for a ride in this rough, barely legal car. I thought they were heading to the right location, as they drove off towards the church. I liked the contrast of this small country church and this backroads car.
This painting is available for purchase.

Massy Ferguson by Sheri Jones

Massy Ferguson by Sheri Jones
8 x 10 oil on canvas
This old work horse was painted at the M&J Lavender Farm during the festival this past weekend. It was the most colorful thing around, so I had to paint it. I parked myself in the shade and painted away.
We were assigned different farms, but were given the option to visit all participating farms. This was one of the other options and it was one of my favorites. It was right in the middle of the hill country with views all around. The festival was created to celebrate the final harvest and
end of the season.

Leddy Boots by Sheri Jones

Leddy Boots by Sheri Jones
10 x 8 oil on canvas
This was painted yesterday plein air in the historic Stock Yards in Ft. Worth. M.L. Leddy established Leddy Boots in 1922. They continue to produce high quality, hand made boots today.
A group of my painting pals met there and painted in the morning and then we enjoyed lunch together. This place has tons of inspiration and I know I will return soon.
This painting is available for purchase.$125.00 Sheri@sheriart.net

Fincher' White Front by Sheri Jones

Fincher's White Front by Sheri Jones
7 x 5 oil on canvas
I met a group of plein air painters today in the Historic Ft. Worth Stockyards. This building is home of Fincher's White Front Western Wear and has been in existence since 1907. The original name was White Front Western Wear. The Fincher family bought it in 1967 and has had the doors opened since.
The location turned into a wealth of inspiration and I would love to return soon. There were beautiful buildings, horses, cows, longhorns, goats and lots of cowboys everywhere. This is where the west begins! YeHaw.

Wacky Mac by Sheri Jones

This was created in the studio from a set up. I raided the kitchen and found some willing victims. The wacky name on the bag of macaroni makes me smile.

Measured Spices by Sheri Jones

Measured Spices by Sheri Jones
11 x 14 oil on canvas
This was painted from a set up in my studio. I am inspired to create a cookbook cover for an upcoming fundraiser I am involved in. This is my first attempt and I am sure there will be more to follow. I work for VITAS Hospice Care and will help coordinate a cookbook we will all contribute recipes to. We are raising money for the VITAS Charitable Foundation. They are doing wonderful things for our patients and families through out the country.
