This was inspired by  a photo taken in Pienza, Italy. It was on our last day and we were given free time to wander and shop. I found these bright red flowers in the courtyard of an old hotel. I was attracted to the contrast between the old stone work and the shadowed courtyard. It made the flowers pop. I painted this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint. I love the soft morning light and get to enjoy in on my way to work. I almost never drive straight to work, but take side roads to see how the morning light effects the landscape. I am gathering photos for inspiration and have collected a few during our fall color display.  This in in the Benbrook area, near their city park.  It was painted with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint. This was inspired from a painting I did on location in Benbrook, Texas. This meandering river is the overflow from the dam at Benbrook Lake.  I loved the warm color of the grasses that lined the river and the distant views.  I painted this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint. I painted this on location in the Lake Baptist Church parking lot. It has great views and outstanding color this time of the year. We are fortunate to have perfect plein air painting weather this late in the year.  I wanted to show how bright red the sumac bushes appeared in the light of the afternoon sun.

I meet my friend Joyce Thomas who shared this new spot overlooking the Brazos river. We were on an old bridge overlooking the river. A new bridge was constructed for cars, but the old one was kept standing.  This is available for purchase. $250.00
