Flat Rock Creek Sunrise

Flat Rock Creek Sunrise by Sheri Jones
30x24 oil on canvas

I created this from a couple of field studies. They were of the same location, but at different times of the day. I love the warm color the rising sun creates.  This was on a beautiful fall morning. This was created with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.  This painting is available for sale through CFAI Sheri@sheriart.net

Beautiful Sunrise by Sheri Jones

Beautiful Sunrise by Sheri Jones
36x24 oil on canvas

I created this in the studio from one of my small field studies. On the morning I created the field study the sun poked through stormy clouds. It was a beautiful sunrise for a minute and I tried my best to capture it. As soon as we left the skys opened up and poured. I used the palette knife to paint this.

Show Flowers by Sheri Jones

Show Flowers by Sheri Jones
16 x 8 oil on Raymar canvas panel
My sister Pam and her husband Dan were in Hawai during the opening reception at my solo show in Granbury. They were unable to attend, but sent these beautiful flowers straight from the island.  It was such a treat to receive this special delivery.  They made a beautiful center piece for the show. I knew I had to paint them.  This was painted with a palette knife.

Bluebonnets and Cactus

BlueBonnets and Cactus
16 x 8 oil on Raymar canvas panel
Sold
I know the bluebonnets aren't blooming yet, but know they are coming. The weather has been beautiful recently and Spring is right around the corner.

I am getting excited about participating in the Paint the Town Paint Out April 15 - 17th.  The area has a wealth of inspiration for the plein air painter.  The wildflowers should be in full bloom and beautiful.

This painting sold.

Zippo by Sheri Jones

Zippo by Sheri Jones
10 x 10 oil on canvas
I created this as part of the challenge Michael Naples posted on Daily Paint Works this week. The instructions were to paint this lighter using burnt siena, ultra marine blue and white. I was surprised you can get such a wide range of values using such a limited palette. It was a fun challenge. I painted this with a palette knife.  Sold

Indian Paint Brush by Sheri Jones

Indian Paint Brush by Sheri Jones
10 x 8 oil on canvas.
I was inspired to paint this after going through my photos from the Texas Hill Country. We travelled there during their peak last Spring and were rewarded with lots of photos. I wanted to paint something that excited me. The vibrating orange against the bright blue was what I was looking for. This photo reminded me of all I have to look forward to with Spring approaching.
This was painted with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint. This painting is available for purchase through Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas, Texas

Back Road Creek by Sheri Jones

Backroad Creek by Sheri Jones
16 x 20 oil on canvas
This painting was inspired from a trip to Willow City Loop last spring. This is a rural area in the Texas Hill Country. We were taking roads less travelled and enjoyed discovering this backroad creek. This 22 mile loop will take you on one of the most beautiful areas in Texas. When blue bonnets are at their prime this is a must see. I created this with a palette knife.

Poppy Field by Sheri Jones

Poppy Field by Sheri Jones
8x10 oil on canvas
This was inspired from a photo I took in the Fredricksburg area one spring afternoon. This was a field of wild poppies and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It was such a treat to find this natural garden in the middle of the country. I created this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint. Old Mill by Sheri Jones

Old Mill by Sheri Jones
10 x 8 oil on Raymar canvas
I painted this on a cool November morning. We met at a fellow artist's property on the banks of the Paluxy River. This old mill is on land that has been in her family since the 1800's. This was a working mill that served the county in its heyday. The river rose and a bridge broke loose and took this building down. It has been in that state since. It was great to record this historical site.

Seasonal Trio by Sheri Jones

Seasonal Trio by Sheri Jones
8x10 oil on canvas
I set this still life up outside on my patio and painted quickly chasing the shadows and light. The bright colors of the little pumpkins just say it's October. They bring thoughts of cooler temperatures and changing seasons.
I painted this with a palette knife and lots of paint.

Chantilly's Garden by Sheri Jones

Chantilly's Garden by Sheri Jones
9 x 12 oil on canvas
This painting was created in the Garden at Chantilly Lace Bed and Breakfast in Johnson City. They were one of the participating lavender farms in the festival and paint out. You could tell they were both very creative. Their garden and home are beautiful and well cared for. They serve a pretty hardy breakfast too.

Granbury Sunrise by Sheri Jones

Granbury Sunrise by Sheri Jones
10 x 8 oil on canvas
I painted this on location Saturday morning at the break of dawn. A storm was brewing and the clouds were moving fast. We had a wonderful display of the morning light but the air was feeling heavy. There was a light mist after we got our painting on. As soon as we loaded the car and headed out it came a downpour. It rained for hours and I was so happy we started early and avoided getting wet!

A Fresh New Day by Sheri Jones

A Fresh New Day
24 x 36 oil on canvas
This is a painting I created from a field study. The location is not far from home and easy to get to early. Watching the fresh new day reveal itself was a great reward. This painting was created with a palette knife and the paint was flying. It was such fun it seemed to paint itself.

A Colorful Morning II by Sheri Jones

A Colorful Morning II by Sheri Jones
30 x 40 oil on canvas
I recreated this from a field study I did earlier in the year. I met a group of friends at Rough Creek Lodge in Glen Rose just in time to watch the sunrise. Painting a sunrise is a lovely way to start the day.

A Morning Rise by Sheri Jones

A Morning Rise by Sheri Jones
9 x 12 oil on canvas
This was painted on site yesterday morning from a point in Indian Harbor overlooking Lake Granbury. It took me about 3 minutes to drive there from my house. We were on site by 6:45 am , and wrapped it up by 9:30. I have painted from this location at different times of the year and it seems the sun was not coming up where I remember. I choose to move it where I wanted it squeeze it all together.

Cheesecakes by Sheri Jones

Cheesecakes by Sheri Jones
12 x 9 oil on canvas
I continue my food series with this version of the cheesecakes. I painted "Mini Cheesecakes for Sale" earlier in the year ( posted Jan. 17th). I wanted to rework it by using a palette knife and different design. This is full of texture and lots of paint.
